From Dream to Scalpel: The Life of a Surgeon with Dr. Lana Sarajlić at FMS Talks
On Tuesday, December 2, 2025, the Faculty of Medical Sciences (FMS) at the International University of Sarajevo organized an inspiring lecture within its FMS Talks series, titled “Introduction to Surgery: The Life of a Surgeon.”
The guest speaker was Dr. Lana Sarajlić, specialist physician and abdominal surgeon at the Clinical Center of the University of Sarajevo, who offered students and attendees a firsthand look into the demanding yet highly rewarding world of surgery.
Through an engaging and informative presentation, Dr. Sarajlić shared insights into the daily responsibilities of a surgeon, the intensity of clinical work, decision-making under pressure, and the dedication required to perform at the highest professional level. She spoke openly about the challenges young doctors face on their professional journey, including the demanding process of applying for medical specializations, maintaining resilience in the face of obstacles, and continuously striving for excellence.
