FMS Talks: “Being a Doctor” with Prof. Dr. Ibrahim Omerhodžić
On Wednesday, December 3, 2025, the Faculty of Medical Sciences (FMS) at the International University of Sarajevo organized another inspiring lecture within its FMS Talks series, titled “Being a Doctor.”
The guest speaker was Prof. Dr. scient. med. Ibrahim Omerhodžić, a distinguished neurosurgeon from the Clinical Center of the University of Sarajevo, widely respected for his extensive clinical experience and professional achievements.
In his motivational address, Prof. Dr. Omerhodžić reflected on the beginnings of his medical career, the path that led him to choose neurosurgery as his specialization, and the rich spectrum of emotions that have accompanied him throughout his professional journey. He spoke openly about the challenges faced by young doctors, the importance of perseverance and ethical responsibility, and the dedication required to serve patients with compassion and excellence.
Offering valuable guidance to medical students, he highlighted ways to maintain motivation during demanding years of study and encouraged students to develop realistic yet inspiring expectations about life as future physicians. His sincere, personal stories and heartfelt reflections deeply resonated with the audience, creating a warm and interactive atmosphere.
The event gathered not only students of the Faculty of Medical Sciences but also participants from other medical faculties in Sarajevo, as well as students from various departments across the International University of Sarajevo. This memorable evening provided a unique opportunity for students to engage in meaningful dialogue with one of Sarajevo’s most esteemed medical professionals and gain inspiration for their own future careers in medicine.
